Living Shadows part 21

*Clang* *Clang*

Darius and Sam were sparing with their swords out in the moonlight. Sam had improved a lot and was finally good enough to spar with Darius. However, he wasn't good enough to beat him. Darius caught Sam's sword at the hilt and flipped back pulling the sword out of Sam's hand and then Sam went tumbling over Darius ending on his back.

"Ow. That hurt Darius."

"You've still got a ways to go, but you've gotten much better on your own. Good work Sam."

"Thanks, I'm glad that all my hard work is paying off." They shared a smile at Sam's success and then they heard something. Something was moving in the trees, but neither of them could see what it was. They both drew their swords and stood back to back. They were ready for what was waiting for them. Or so they thought.

Suddenly a beautiful maiden's voice came out of the trees.

"Come to me wanderers, Come to me men.
I need a pair of strong arms, to hold me again.
Come with me strong one, Come with me wise one.
Reach out and touch me, and we'll have some fun."

Both boys had become very sleepy. They were disoriented and didn't know what was going on around them. The song continued and their feet began moving toward the beautiful voice without even realizing it.

"Cus I need warmth and shelter.
I need you here with me.
I need your lips to touch mine.
I need you here to die."

They didn't know what the song was saying anymore. All they knew was that it was very pretty.

Miriam sat up in bed. She had heard something very strange. It wasn't a normal sound. She could tell that there was power behind it. She would recognize sound power anywhere. That's when she realized it. There was no animal killing the men in the village. She knew what was and was filled with fear. Darius and Sam wouldn't be able to handle this threat. She grabbed her jacket and bag and ran out of the Inn to go save her friends.
Miriam followed the sound all the way into the mountains. She could barely hear it now, but that just made her run faster in order to keep up with it. Miriam was more scared then she had been in her entire life. She had to catch up with them. She had to. If she didn't…she didn't even want to think about that. It would be hard enough to lose Sam, but Darius. If she lost Darius she feared that she would die from the pain. Then the sound began to echo. Miriam found herself outside of a cave. Without hesitation she charged in. Then she was able to hear that the sound was a song.

"Come to me wanderers, Come to me men.

"Not on my watch!" Miriam yelled as she rounded a corner and saw the scene in front of her. The river was flowing inside the cave casting moonlight all around. Sam and Darius were on their knees by its edge. Their eyes had glossed over, but they were still breathing. They had been hypnotized by the song just like every other man who had died. The two of them were at the feet of a beautiful woman. She had long silver hair that flowed down to her calves and sparkled just as much as the cave walls around her. She wore a dress that was as blue as the water and had a V-neck that stretched down to her belly button. The sleeves were long and flowed out with a slit down the side just like the bottom of the dress. She also wore a headdress made of crystal that sparkled in the light of the cave. However, the most striking part about her was her eyes. They were sea foam green that seemed to glow. She was very beautiful and very frightening. Miriam could tell that she was very strong. She would be difficult to defeat.
